Having been the RSO & Student Organization Representative for the Fall 2022 semester, one of the most important responsibilities for the position comes undoubtedly in scheduling facilities on the Incheon Global Campus such as the Gym, Dance Room, and Soccer Field (and RSO Room) for our registered student organizations. Agreeing upon a set schedule amongst not only our own student organizations but also other universities on-campus is not an easy task, especially with the record number (~25) of student organizations we have here at Mason Korea this semester.
I say time and time that the Teams channel that we created last semester for our RSO & Student Organization Leaders was and continues to be a lifesaver when we need to contact them for occasions like this. Sure, KakaoTalk is great if you need a quick way to communicate informally, but Teams simply allows for greater management of tags, channels, and files that can’t be replaced with any other platform.
Anyways, after receiving the preferred schedule for each student organization that needs to use the facilities we have on campus, the hard part was now meeting with IGC Foundation and Student Affairs / University Life Offices in IGC - the way in which we allocate facilities chosen through a pertinent game of rock paper scissors. Thank you, first and foremost, to members within Student Government and other RSO leaders who took the initiative in the planning process and volunteered to be part of the meeting.
I can’t say that I’m fully satisfied with how the timetable turned out, but satisfying everyone, especially with so many people involved, is something that’s incredibly hard to do. Don’t blame our offices or our leaders for that - blame me instead (for being a bad rock paper scissors player).
