One of our most requested initiatives for the 2023 academic year, alongside a redesign of the letterman jacket - the finalized version of which you can find here, was a redesign of the Student ID Card.
Indeed, we have had our (Student and Faculty / Staff) ID Cards for a long time without a significant redesign, like what many Korean universities do. Students, understandably, have also been dissatisfied with how well the ID Card represents the Mason Brand and our community as a whole.
So, as we did with the letterman jacket, Mason Korea Student Government went ahead with a community-led initiative redesign of both the Student and Faculty / Staff ID Cards through the recruitment of our Redesign Committee. We had many members from our community, including talented students and faculty and staff, who provided creative designs and valuable feedback that eventually culminated in the following final candidates.

As a non-designer myself, I genuinely thank our Committee members who spent their valuable time over the break to create these amazing designs.
After voting, which was conducted through ranked-choice (first and second-choice) voting, our top design was Design 3, alongside other popular candidates we received in pre-prints by the IGC IT Center:

Unfortunately, after a few talks with members of our community and the Office of University Branding of the Fairfax Campus, we had to make the decision to postpone the redesign due to an internal brand refresh taking place, which we anticipate will be completed in the next academic year.
As unfortunate and disappointing this decision may be – we will, however, hopefully use these designs as a reference in the future for when the Mason Brand Refresh is complete. I like to think of our attempt at such a redesign this semester as a strong foundation for the next semester, where a future Redesign Committee can start off from where we left off to make the ID Card better for all of us.
