Welcome Mason Patriots! This guidebook aims to serve as a helpful reference that new and current students can use for helpful tips and links that you may need throughout your school life.
New Student Onboarding
For our incoming students, make sure to read the Welcome New Patriots page on the Mason Korea homepage for the most up-to-date and accurate information.
Patriot Pass
Your Patriot Pass is the online credential used to log in to and access a variety of services, including Patriot Web and Office 365. Before you begin, you will need to have completed your Intent to Enroll by submitting your enrollment deposit to gain access to a non-temporary, full access NetID.
To activate your Patriot Pass, follow the guide above to activate your account. If you are using a smartphone, it is important that you select Smartphone as your phone type when enrolling in Duo 2FA so that you may install the Duo Mobile app for two-factor authentication when you login.
Then, make sure to bookmark the following services that you will have to regularly use as a Mason student:
Troubleshooting
- Didn’t receive a phone call or message for Duo 2FA enrollment? Make sure international calls or messages aren’t blocked by your carrier.
- Can’t login to Office 365 Email? If you see an
emsg: UserHasNoMailboxAndNoLicenseAssignedError
error message when attempting to login, wait 48-72 hours for your email account to be activated.
- Need to re-enroll your device as a smartphone? First login to Patriot Pass Password Management, click on 2FA Account from the left side menu and press on the Edit (pencil) icon next to your 2FA device. Re-enroll as you would a normal device, but select your device type as Smartphone.
IGC Account
After creating your Patriot Pass, create an IGC Account using the guide below. Make sure to use your Mason (Office 365) email when signing up.
The IGC IT Center also provides free access to the Hangul word processor (Windows only) and a Windows 10/11 Education license, which you can redeem and download after signing up for an IGC Account.
Group Chats
Mason Korea Student Government also operates all-student and per-major group chats via KakaoTalk, the links to which can be found below.

Academic Planning
Make sure to review your Degree Requirements and Four-Year plans prior to course registration. If you don’t know where to start, meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss your academic plans.
Your degree progress can be reviewed through Degree Works, which can be accessed via Patriot Web.
Also make sure to bookmark these links as well, which are Mason’s learning management systems used for viewing courses and submitting assignments:
For Mason Korea’s academic calendars:
Change or Declare a Major or Concentration
Fill out the following form and send it to your Academic Advisor.
Declare a Minor
Fill out the following form and send it to your Academic Advisor.
Minors usually require between 15 and 21 credits of study, at least 8 of which must be applied only to that minor and may not be used to fulfill requirements of the student's major, concentration, an undergraduate certificate, or another minor.
Credits that fulfill your chosen minor program and Mason Core should be okay.
Delete a Program
Fill out and submit the following form.
Substitution/Waiver Request
You may be able to substitute or waive a degree requirement for a course you have taken. Should you need to submit a Substitution/Waiver Request, this must be signed by your Academic Advisor and approved by the college that houses the major or minor.
Selective Withdrawal
Undergraduate Degree-Seeking students may request a maximum of three selective withdrawals during their entire undergraduate career. This request must be submitted before the Selective Withdrawal Period, which can be found on the Academic Calendar.
For undergraduate students, all withdrawals result in a notation of W on the student's transcript for the withdrawn course(s). While a W does not affect the GPA, withdrawn courses are counted as "attempted credit hours".
To request a selective withdrawal, fill out the following form and send it to your Academic Advisor.
